Resilience Rugby Club have received new rugby gear to be used by the team ahead of the upcoming 2019 national rugby league season, which kicks off March 9.

The Rusizi-based rugby team have maintained their partnership with sponsors Mary Watkins and Glyn Watkins who, it is reported, assisted to secure the new collection of boots and balls.

Donatien Ufitimfura, the president of Resilience, says that they are happy to receive a new bunch of 24 boots and an assortment of balls from Connect Africa.

"The gear was donated by Connect to Africa through the help of our Welsh partners Mary Watkins and Glyn Watkins, we are happy and I am sure the new equipment will take us a long way in the 2019 season,” he told Times Sport on Sunday.

Resilience had a memorable season last year when they braved the odds to reach the league final for a historic first time, which they lost 27-14 to eventual champions Kigali Sharks.
