EASTERN PROVINCE

RWAMAGANA—Executive secretaries and cell coordinators throughout Rwamagana district will have easier means of communication as cellular phones were finally provided to the politicians and local leaders. In jovial moods each departed with an easy-call phone set last week.

Mayor Valens Ntezirembo revealed that sector and cell leaders, as well as residents, will equally benefit from the telephone services.

"These telephones will lead to smooth communication and exchange of news amongst district officials, sector executive secretaries and cell coordinators,” Ntezirembo said. Residents, he added, could "rush to the nearest office” and make a call if necessary to get immediate assistance.

He explained that one can just make a call to get any information he or she needed instead of travelling long distances to sector or district headquarters.

Mayor Ntezirembo urged the beneficiaries to make use of the phones and report news every morning. He said some of the telephone sets had been stationed at the district headquarters specifically to handle news coming from each sector and cell.

The 100 telephone sets were purchased at Frw30,000 each, and promoted by Terracom. The district has 14 Sectors and 82 Cells.
