Five athletes set for 43rd IAAF World Cross Country Championships

Rwanda Athletics Federation confirmed that five athletes will represent the country at the 43rd IAAF World Cross Country Championships slated March 30 in Denmark.

The athletes are; Noel Hitimana, Theophile Bigirimana, Felicien Muhitira, Christopher Tuyishimire, and James Sugira.

According to RAF secretary-general Olivier Umutangana, the first four will be joined by James Sugira, who is currently training in the US.

"We have chosen five athletes who will be representing the country and the Ministry of Sports and Culture will avail the funds which will help us prepare the athletes,” said Umutangana.

The athletes will join camp in two weeks at Gicumbi District training centre. 

on January 27, four athletes were picked to represent Rwanda at the forthcoming competition following their impressive  performances in the national cross country in which APR’s runner Noel Hitimana struck gold. He was followed by Theophile Bigirimana, from NAS Athletics, while Felicien Muhitira, of Mountain Classic, came in third, and Christopher Tuyishimire (APR) in the fourth place.
