Rwatubyaye joins Major League side

Rayon Sports and Amavubi central defender, Abdul Rwatubyaye, has joined American professional football team, Sporting KC, after signing a one-year deal with an option for renewal.

The 22-year-old defender will be added to the Sporting KC roster upon acquisition of an International Transfer Certificate and P-1 visa, which allows him to work in the United States.

Rwatubyaye joins Sporting KC in the state of Kansas, after spending the previous three seasons with Rayon Sports FC. Before then, he was with league leader, APR FC.

He has played professional football for six years.

The youthful defender has won three Rwanda Premier League titles with both Rayon and APR and won 22 caps with the senior national team, Amavubi, including appearances in FIFA World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Sporting KC now has 26 players under MLS contract for their 2019 campaign.

Rwatubyaye started his carrier in 2009 with the APR academy before featuring for national teams at the U-17, U-20, U-23 and senior levels.
