Mukura 2-1 Etincelles

Onesme Twizerimana scored twice as Mukura Victory Sports moved into second position in the Azam Rwanda Premier League with a 2-1 win over Etincelles at Huye Stadium on Monday.

It was the striker’s first brace since joining Mukura from APR in September last year.

The former APR player scored in either half to inspire the Huye-based side to a hard-earned victory after skipper Hussein Ciza was sent off in the 71st minute.

Twizerimana broke the deadlock in the 37th minute before completing his double on the night with two minutes to time, this time netting the winner after Abdul Nshimirimana had equalized for the visitors in the 86th minute.

"He is a complete striker, and he only keep getting better. He has remarkably improved this season,” said Mukura coach Francis Haringingo in a post-match interview, adding that he was happy with the collective performance of his team.

Mukura, who face Gicumbi on Thursday in their last postponed game, have 33 points from 14 points and a win from Thursday’s away game will fire them to the top of the table with 36 points, one ahead of champions APR.

Eight-time champions Rayon Sports are now third with 31 points, while SC Kiyovu (26 points) complete top four.

Haringingo further noted that, "We need to continue to win our games and see where we will finish, it is a league and we will need to give our best in every game.”
