Sports minister calls for collaboration, improved partnership among stakeholders

The Minister for Sports and Culture, Esperance Nyirasafari, has reminded all sports federations, partners and stakeholders that strengthening partnerships and collaboration in the sector will be key to sports development.

Nyirasafari was speaking yesterday during a two-day Sports Retreat 2019, which concludes Friday in Rubavu District.

"Strengthening partnerships with other sectors, promoting gender equality in sports administration, accountability and governance are key factors in sports development,” said Nyirasafari.

She further emphasised that, "Sport is very import in promoting healthy living and job creation.”

Day 1 discussions also included looking at some of the major challengers that hinder the development of the sports industry and the mechanisms to overcome them.

This year’s retreat is running under the theme Impact of sport to the socio-economic development of Rwanda.

Officials from over 33 sports federations and partner organisations are attending the retreat, organised by the Sports Ministry in partnership with the National Olympic Committee.

After the retreat concludes on Friday, all the sports federations, and the Olympic committee will proceed with a one-day general assembly on Saturday.
