Rwanda energy group (REG) and league rivals Espoir have been placed in Pool A in the upcoming 2019 National Heroes Day Basketball Tournament.

The week-long competition will start on Saturday and run through February 2 at Amahoro Stadium.

Patrick Ngwijuruvugo’s REG, who are gearing up for the inaugural FIBA AfroLeague due next month, have beaten Espoir in their last three meetings.

Last year, REG beat Patriots 54-51 to lift the Heroes Day tournament’s trophy in men’s category, while IPRC-South saw off APR 79-77 to win the title in women’s fray.

At this year’s edition, the women’s category will be a four-team contest between holders IPRC-South, APR, Ubumwe and The Hoops Rwanda where they will play against each other in a round-robin format.
