UTB Vs APR 6pm

Fidele Nyirimana, the head coach of UTB volleyball club, has urged his players to be ruthless when they take on APR in the national volleyball league on Wednesday.

The game will get underway at 6pm, at Amahoro Indoor Stadium.

University of Tourism, Technology and Business Studies (UTB), who occupy the top spot with 25 points, have been imperious this season, having only lost twice in their first ten games.

While they have seen two defeats come against rivals Rwanda Energy Group (REG), UTB are the only team to beat Gisagara twice in a single season since the club’s formation in 2016.

The Kicukiro-based outfit beat Dominique Ntawangundi’s side in identical five-set thrillers at Amahoro Stadium and Gisagara Gymnasium, in the first and second leg encounters this term.

"We should maintain the same aggressive approach [against APR] on Wednesday,” said Nyirimana.

"We go into every game looking for three points, we have our sights set on the league title and know we can win it if we focus and remain consistent,” the former Gisagara coach added.

This will be the last league game before the 2019 National Heroes Day tournament due this weekend. The championship will resume on February 2.

Gisagara (men) and Rwanda Revenue Authority (women) are title holders of the annual tournament, which they won last year after beating REG and APR in finals.

Ahead of Wednesday’s clash against Sammy Mulinge’s side, UTB top the table with 25 points, two ahead of REG and Gisagara.
