Volleyball: Gisagara eye weekend double to go top

Champions Gisagara will be looking for two straight victories when they host Kirehe and UTB in the national volleyball league at Gisagara Gymnasium as they eye to reclaim the pole position.

The hosts take on struggling Kirehe at 10am before facing the University of Tourism, Technology and Business Studies (UTB) at 2pm in what is regarded as the match of the weekend. In-between, UTB and Kirehe will face off at noon.

Going into their two weekend fixtures, Dominique Ntawangundi’s Gisagara are in third position with 19 points, one behind joint leaders UTB and Rwanda Energy Group (REG) who host IPRC-West at Amahoro Stadium. The game kicks off at 5pm.

Also on the Saturday menu, former champions APR travel to Ngoma District for an away clash against IPRC-East, starting at 11am.

The military side are fresh from stunning giants REG in a five-set (3-2) thriller on Wednesday.
