Handball: APR start preps ahead of new season

APR handball club have begun early preparations ahead of the 2019 national handball league season, which kicks off on January 26.

The 14-man squad reported to training on January 2 and, according to head coach Anaclet Bagirishya, the target is to reclaim the league title from Police this year.

"We have started training early so we can be ready in time for the new season. The target is to win the league title again,” said the former Police head coach.

He further added, "We have five players in trials with us, we hope to retain three.”

When asked who the players are, Bagirishya abstained from disclosing the names, stressing that "Names of the three players who will impress the most in trials will be revealed in due time.”

Ephron Niyonteze, Jean Paul Muhawenayo, Shaffi Niyonkuru, Yannick Karenzi, Jean de Dieu Nyirimanzi, Elysée Muhumure, Andrew Akayezu, Emile Giraneza, Jean Paul Niyingenera, JMV Kunduwawe, Jean Claude Hakizimana, Jean Bosco Ntawuhungakaje, Honore Byiringiro and Yves Umuhire.
