The Responsible Business campaign saw Park Inn provide the children more than 200 back to school items, such as bed covers, school bags, pens, face towels, towels and bed sheets, all needed for the beginning of the school year.

During the event, attended by delegates from SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda, Park Inn by Radisson staff and staff of SOS Children’s Village Kayonza, a group of children from the SOS village organized a special performance full of fun activities. "It is with great joy that we welcome you here at Kayonza children’s village and we really appreciate the gifts and the food and the love that you have shown us. We wish you all a merry Xmas and a prosperous New Year,” said Mbuto.

All Park Inn employees receive Responsible Business training and each Park Inn hotel has a unique Responsible Business Action Plan covering areas such as health and well-being of guests and employees, resource efficiency relating to energy, water and waste, community outreach, and charity.

According to Kaze Queen from Park Inn by Radisson, the hotel is committed to taking responsibility for sustainable community development and protecting the the environment under its Responsible Business programme built on three pillars, namely, Think People, Think Community and Think Planet.

"We welcome our guests in a safe and secure environment and want to remain a global leader in business ethics, thus we Think people. We Think Community by making meaningful contributions to our communities and destinations, so that everyone benefits. Lastly, we Think Planet by creating a better planet for all and making a light impact on nature,” explained Kaze.

According to Aimee Muziranenge, the Director of Fund Development and Communication at SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda, money is not everything and all that matters is love, like the kind shown by Park Inn by Radisson staff members. "Though we need money to run these children’s villages, it is not possible for us to deliver on our responsibilities. It is the love and the care from different stakeholders and partners like Park Inn by Radisson that make it possible. I really thank them for the gifts and sharing with the kids here at Kayonza children’s village,” said Muziranenge.

"We will soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Park Inn by Radisson which will help strengthen our partnership. The hotel is also going to establish a donation box at all Radisson blu hotels to assist children in SOS villages in Rwanda,” she added.

SOS Children's Village Kayonza is built on a plot of land of about four-and-half hectares. It comprises twelve family houses to take in 120 children.  In addition to the family houses, there is an administration building, a multi-purpose room, a village director's house and a house for the SOS aunts (SOS mothers in training or family helpers supporting SOS mothers). There is also a kindergarten and a primary school on the premises.

Park Inn by Radisson plans on participating in areas such as community outreach, cultural heritage, employee and children’s rights, health and safety, and environmental improvements in Rwanda.
