Rwanda Energy Group coach Benon Mugisha Barayavuga has urged his players to stay focused and aim to finish on top of the table when they face APR Volleyball Club on Wednesday. 

REG are in second place with 19 points after beating defending champions Gisagara in a five set thriller on Saturday at Amahoro stadium.

Speaking to Times Sport yesterday, Mugisha said he was not satisfied with their performance nonetheless.

"We had a good game-plan for the match against Gisagara but we still have a lot of work to do before we could face APR,” Mugisha said. 

Gisagara took the first two sets 25-23 25-23 while REG came from behind to win the third set 25-22 and then Bavuga’s team went on to thrash Gisagara 25-6 in the fourth set before taking the decisive set 15-9 to register their sixth win after seven games this season.

"We started poorly against Gisagara and they had a chance to win the game but in the third set we had a change in the mentality of our players and they worked as a team in blocks and services, which was ultimately key to our win,” Mugisha added.

In their last eight league matches, REG won seven games and if they win their game in hand (against APR), they will leapfrog current leaders UTB by two points. The latter have 20 points from nine rounds of matches.
