Patriots will be on a double mission when they take on Espoir as they seek to stretch their perfect start to the 2018-19 Bank of Kigali National Basketball League season and snatch the top spot from Rwanda Energy Group.

Reigning champions Patriots face champions Espoir at Amahoro Indoor Stadium on Friday night. The game will get underway at 8pm.

Henry Mwinuke’s Patriots, the only still-unbeaten side this term, are in second place with 10 points, one adrift of leaders REG who have played one game more.

"We should not underestimate Espoir, they are one of the best teams this season,” Mwinuke told Times Sport on Thursday.

"We don’t want to drop points, not this soon. If we win, we will go top of the table and that’s our target on Friday,” he added.

Before Christmas break, Patriots beat rivals REG 82-78 to stretch their unbeaten run to five games.

On the other hand, Espoir head coach Maxime Mwiseneza has challenged his players to "stand firm and be confident” when they face Patriots.

The much-awaited clash will be preceded by another league encounter between IPRC-Kigali and United Generation Basketball (UGB), at 6pm at the same venue.
