Gisagara start preparations for Men’s African Club Championships

VOLLEYBALL league defending champions, Gisagara volleyball Club, started intensive preparations for the Men’s African Club Championships, which will be held in March. The dates are yet to be confirmed.

Last year, Gisagara was disqualified from the African Volleyball Club Championships for failure to submit the required registration documents on time.

According to Gisagara Volleyball Club president, Augustin Ntivuguruzwa, this year the team is eying early preparations.

"We will are set to start lobbying and fundraising from members of the club and fans from Gisagara district to prepare well for the event” Ntivuguruzwa said

"We have Rwf15 million from fundraising and will continue to look for money. We need extra Rwf20 million to finalise everything as we want to go for African Volleyball Club Championships with all requirements” added Ntivuguruzwa

Gisagara are league leaders with 18 points in the national volleyball league.

Coach Dominique Ntawangundi, said they will build on the good start in the national league to prepare for the African Club Championship.

Gisagara will take on their rivals Rwanda Energy Group on Saturday evening at Amahoro Indoor Stadium in the return leg of the national volleyball league.

Gisagara men volleyball club and Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) in the women’s category are the two teams that will represent the country in the African Club Championships.
