MUKURA Victory Sports, the last Azam Rwanda Premier League side in continental football, have been drawn against Sudan’s Al Hilal in the playoffs of the 2018-19 CAF Confederation Cup.

The draws where held at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) headquarters in Cairo, Egypt on Friday evening.

The Peace Cup holders secured their place in the playoffs rounds after beating another Sudanese side, Hilal Obayed, having played out a goalless draw in the away leg before winning the decisive clash 5-4 in penalty shootouts following another 0-0 draw in regular time.

Al Hilal dropped to Caf Confederation after being seen off by Tunisia’s Club Africain 3-2 in the first round of the CAF Champions League. The latter had brushed aside Rwanda’s APR in the preliminary round of Africa’s premier club competition.

Al-Hilal Stadium will host the first leg of the play-off tie, which will be played on January 11-13 with the second leg to be held at Huye Stadium on the weekend of January 18-20.

Winners in the play-offs round will progress to the lucrative group stage whose action is slated for February 2019.

Should Francis Haringingo’s Mukura eliminate Al Hilal, it will be their first time and a second time for a Rwandan club to reach the competition’s group stage after Rayon Sports last season.
