Kids from SOS childrenu2019s villages Rwanda shout for joy as they are hosted by Radisson Blu Hotel in Kigali yesterday. Sam Ngendahimana.

Children from SOS Children’s Village had a great moment to celebrate Christmas Eve at Radisson Blu Hotel at Kigali Convention Centre.

It was an experience of fun, dinning, playing and adventuring for the children.

Christiane Rulinda, the Coordinator at Radisson Blu Hotel said that the Hotel organises Christmas celebrations every year and this is the third time they are doing this.

The main purpose is to give back to the community, she said.

"We invited kids from SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda because the Hotel is a global charity partner to the school, however, it is also part of our responsible business activities as we have three pillars under responsible business; think planet, think people, and think community,” she said, adding that these pillars guide their engagement in the communities in which they operate globally.

Rulinda added that these are children who have been separated from their families of birth and that since Christmas relates to family; the hotel staff didn’t want them to feel lonely during this period but to rejoice with them and make them feel loved and cared for.

Through a partnership signed by the school and the Hotel in May 2018, the Hotel committee is sponsoring two students from the school with basic needs and tuition.

Meanwhile, during the event on Monday, the school was given a contribution of Rwf2M by the hotel management to help in their daily activities.

According John Gakwaya, the Legal Representative SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda, it was such an honor for the children to be invited for lunch at the hotel, which is also home to the country’s iconic Kigali Convention Centre.

The children had a tour around the facility and had an opportunity to take photos and play on bouncing castles among other recreational activities.
