The local rugby governing body (RRF) has confirmed that the sponsorship deal with MindSky, which was due to end with 2018, has been extended till end of the 2019 national rugby league.

The development was confirmed to Times Sport on Sunday by Livingstone Muhire, an administrator in the newly elected executive committee of the rugby federation.

"We are happy to continue the partnership with MindSky, their contribution to rugby development in the country is much appreciated,” said Muhire.

He also revealed that, "The outgoing committee has handed over the power and instruments of office to the new team, we will be starting our new duties effective January 1.”

This publication understands that the new executive committee, chaired by Tharcisse Kamanda, is set to release the 2019-2020 action plan, early next month, which is expected to involve a number of competitions.

One of the much-awaited competitions is the 2019 Silver Cup Continental Group B, following Rwanda’s surprise promotion from Bronze Cup category in November.

It is reported that the 2019 top tier rugby league will be three teams richer compared to last season’s eight-team competition as Burera Tigers, Tumba Jaguar, and Rwamagana rugby club await approval from the rugby body’s general assembly.

The 2018 national rugby league title was lifted by Kigali Sharks after beating Rusizi-based side Resilience Rugby club 27-17 in the final, in October.
