Rayon Sports bowed out of the Peace Cup semi-finals after falling to a 2-0 defeat against Francis Haringingo’s Bugesera FC on over two legs, leaving Blues without a trophy this season.

Tuesday’s shock Peace Cup elimination at the hands of Bugesera FC summed up what a bad season it has been for Rayon Sports, and club captain Kevin Muhire insists there is need for change in club’s transfer policy.

The star midfielder made a case that the club’s trophy less season was down to an average squad that coach Julien Mette has at his disposal.

"This is football; you have to make decisions that will best help the team by buying good players," Muhire said.

"In football, you need to invest in club if you want to win trophies. Next year they need to buy better players; I guess they learned their lesson. It's sad that a team like Rayon Sports has been without a championship for four to five years, it's up to the management to change this."

Bugesera progressed to the final on a 2-0 aggregate victory which definitely ended Rayon Sports’ hopes of playing the CAF Confederation Cup next season.

Asked about coach Mette, Muhire said that the coach is not a problem to the club’s disastrous season.

"Rayon Sports did not have a team that allowed us to reach the finals of the Peace Cup,” he said.
