The Hater: I hate people who…

…enter people’s homes without knocking.

Well I thought by leaving the door open, fresh air would get in unhindered. As for the humans, knocking won’t make you disabled. It is simply African courtesy to leave the door slightly open. You should not use it as a window of opportunity to display your poor manners. Please, next time knock..

…always use the speaker phone facility on their mobile phone.

Some people really need to enrol for a course in phone etiquette. The other day, I was in a taxi and someone had his phone next to the ear but we could all hear the conversation.

Did he intend to involve us all or was he simply unable to conceal his folly? I think it is better to use this facility when at home or in your office. This should not be tried in an 18-seater commuter taxi. Grow up!

…wear no wrist watches but often look at their wrists to ‘tell’ the time.

It is not a sin to be poor. But it is very silly and stupid if you have no wrist watch and you try fooling me by looking at your lousy bare wrist as if there was a watch.

I think you will appear less sheepish if you rely on your mobile phone. If you do not own one, then I think you ought to figure out how to use the sun and shadows to tell time. Do not ask me how this will work when the clouds get ready to release rain. I am just a hater!

…sit in public taxis and refuse to shut the window.

Sometimes the car is really moving so fast and the only sensible thing is to have the windows shut. Now you find some part-time thinkers leaving the window wide open when it is so obvious that it is an inconvenience to others.

If it was fresh air you wanted in plenty, then a motorcycle would be a better option. Please, shut the window. Leaving it open not only helps me to see outside, but also inside your empty head!

…are still talking about Barack Obama’s election.

As the hater, I have not really started hating Obama yet, but I have issues with those who think it is so cool to bring him up whenever there is a conversation.

Obama is old news for sure; let us talk about the football tournament taking place in Kigali or the Tamil tigers. We have over 50 black presidents here in Africa. Talk about them too!

I will not stop hating until you all change for the better. Let me help you hate by sending your suggestions to:
