Rwanda international and Gor Mahia striker Jacques Tuyisenge has started light training after an injury lay-off.

The 27-year old had his left foot hurt last month during Rwanda’s 2-2 draw against Central African Republic (CAR) in the qualifiers of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

He missed Gor Mahia’s two matches before returning for the CAF Champions League’s clash against Malawi’s Nyasa Big Bullets where he limped out at half-time.

Talking to Times Sport from Nairobi on Tuesday, Tuyisenge revealed that he was back in training with the first team but was unsure if he would be in the squad to face Zoo Kericho in Kenya Premier League on Wednesday.

"I hope to return to full fitness soon, I am almost there. I am not sure if I will be able to play [against Zoo Kericho] on Wednesday, but certainly I will be available on the weekend for the Lobi Stars clash in Champions League,” the former Police FC skipper said.

Free-scoring Tuyisenge scored both goals as Amavubi and CAR played out a 2-all draw in Group H at Huye Stadium.

He joined the 17-time Kenyan champions in February 2016 after captaining a largely youthful Amavubi team to the quarter-finals of the 2016 African Nations Championship, which was staged in Rwanda.
