Editor,

I arrived in Kigali two weeks ago. it was really lovely to meet such friendly people. The city’s cleanliness is great compared to where I come from.

I come from a city where if you don’t find garbage on the road side, then something is seriously wrong or someone has stolen it. So you can imagine my shock when I encountered beautifully manicured gardens all over Kigali.

Then morning am awakened by the arrival of city council employees who have come to spray my bedroom because I have been complaining of mosquitoes and well, that was shocking and am still amazed.

I have heard of my government giving nets to few people who can not afford them but to actually have my bedroom sprayed was just too touching.

You mean the Rwandan government cares that I have lumps all over as a result of mosquito bites. Someone is actually employed to make sure I don’t get bitten.

I suddenly feel like I wasted money on that malaria shot I got as a safety precaution.

I have been thinking l am in heaven but now am sure I am just in a city where the government is just too efficient so I am trying to get used to it.
