The University of Tourism Technology and Business Studies (UTB) will be seeking to become the first team to beat Gisagara in the national volleyball league this season when the two sides face off at Amahoro Indoor Stadium on Saturday night.

The game will start at 6pm.

Prior to what is regarded as the game of the weekend, both sides will face Kirehe early in the afternoon with UTB playing Jean de Dieu Bagirishya’s side at 12pm before the latter take on Gisagara at 2pm.

Ahead of Saturday fixtures, Kicukiro-based UTB – with a 3:1 win ratio – are top of the table with 9 points, three points clear of second-placed REG with 6 points. The latter have played one game less.

Champions Gisagara are in third place with 5 points and two games in hand.

UTB are fresh from winning their last two games against IPRC-West and IPRC-East, while Gisagara overcame bitter rivals Rwanda Energy Group (REG) in a five-set thriller in their last game.

In an interview with Saturday Sport on Friday, UTB coach Fidele Nyirimana said that his men are determined to fight for ‘rare victory’ against Gisagara as they seek to remain in the commanding position.

"This is our most important – and toughest – game so far this season, we will give our all for victory. My players are fit and the mood in the team is excellent, we are 100% ready,” said the former Gisagara head coach.

Elsewhere on Saturday, IPR-West host REG in the first game of the weekend at 11am in Karongi District, while IPRC-East will be up against former champions APR in Ngoma District. The game will get underway at 4pm.
