Unity Club, an organisation made up of former and current cabinet members and their spouses, Friday elected a new Executive Committee during the 3rd Unity Club annual retreat which took place at Intare Conference Arena, Rusororo.

Among those elected, the Vice Governor of the National Bank of Rwanda, Monique Nsanzabaganwa, retained her position as the First Vice Chairperson, Minister of Cabinet Affairs Solange Kayisire was elected Second Vice Chairperson, while Sylvie Ngirente was elected Treasurer.

Unity Club was created with the aim of promoting unity while contributing to the socio-economic development of the country that following the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

The Club’s Executive Committee is headed by the First Lady and comprises the 1st and 2nd Vice Chairpersons, Treasurer, Secretary General and Heads of Commissions, voted by the General Assembly among the effective members, for a period of two years renewable twice.

Jeanne Gatete and Brice Harerimana were elected as Auditors of the club.

Immaculée Mugabo, Jeanne d’Arc De Bonheur Jeanne d’Arc, and Domitille Mukantaganzwa form the new conflict resolution committee.

Eustochie Sezibera was elected as the Head of Planning and Resources Mobilisation Commission; Séraphine Mukantabana will head Good Governance and Social Justice Commission; Edda Mukabagwiza is new head of Social Affairs and Mobilisation Commission, while Angelina Muganza will head Research and Communication Commission.

Unity Club provides its members opportunity to promote social cohesion and work together towards the sustainable development.

First Lady Jeannette Kagame and Chairperson of the Unity Club welcomed new Executive Committee and paid tribute to the outgoing one.

"Congratulations to the new @UnityClubRw leaders elected today! To the outgoing leaders, I commend you for your contribution in guiding our organisation this far. – JK,” Mrs Kagame tweeted.

The one-day retreat was conducted in two parts, with the first session taking place at Intare Conference Arena, and the second at the Parliament.

The elections were conducted during the first session of Unity Club Intwararumuri 3rd retreat, chaired by Mrs Kagame, held on Friday morning.

During the Second session, Mrs Kagame told Unity Club members that being leaders puts them in the position of being role models, which is why they have to be exemplary, not only in public, but also in their families.

"Based on the pledges made by the new Executive Committee and the passion I saw among Unity Club members, I have no doubt that we shall deliver on activities which will speak for themselves,” Mrs Kagame said during the second session.
