Editor,

Without immediate remedy, the Giporoso thefts will soon leave us poor. Each day, many innocent people lose their phones and money to thieves who hang around the area.

These gangsters are usually in a group and take advantage of the congestion at peak hours to steal us. The worst part of it is that the business people around Giporoso know these thieves but they don’t report them to police.

They always give the excuse that even the police can do less about the matter because these guys have been in and out of prison. Recently two of the crooks pretended to be conversing with a girl but later her phone and Rwf100,000 had been stolen.

Fellow citizens should watch out because in other cases, they actually pretend to know you and later snatch your belongings and disappear.

Police should work hand-in-hand with the residents to deal with these culprits before the matter gets out of hand.
