RAYON Sports coach Roberto Oliveira, a.k.a Robertinho, has challenged his team to be more consistent ahead of Sunday’s Azam Rwanda Premier League game against lowly Gicumbi.

The game starts at 3:30pm, at Kigali Stadium.

Before Rayon Sports’ 2-1 hard-fought victory over Sunrise on Thursday, The Blues had picked just three points from their first two league games this season, including a 2-1 defeat at the hands of high-flying Mukura VS.

A controversial game between Sunrise and Rayon saw the latter earning all the three points despite being reduced to ten men after Burundian striker Bonfils Caleb Bimenyimana was sent off in the 87th minute.

Brazilian tactician Robertinho who guided Rayon Sports to quarter-finals of the Caf Confederation Cup this year, has urged his players to aim for a stable level of performance. Victory, against Gicumbi, will take them to within three points of unbeaten rivals APR.

"There is no doubt about the quality of players, or the character and commitment to the team. But we have to get focused and work a little harder if we are to build a winning momentum.

After the loss to Mukura, we are trying to get back to our winning ways, and it is up to us to deliver again against Gicumbi,” said Robertinho.

He further appealed to his players: "We have to give our best in every match.”

"It is unfortunate that we have lost Caleb for couple of matches, but, we don’t expect to suffer from his absence – we have alternatives on his position,” he added.

Last season, Rayon beat Gicumbi 1-0 in the first-leg before routing them 4-0 in the return-leg.

After three match rounds, Rayon are in sixth position with six points having won two and lost one match. Winless Gicumbi are fifth from the bottom of the 16-team table with one point.
