THIRTY-NINE officers of Rwanda Defence Force and National Police on Friday graduated from RDF Command and Staff College in Musanze District.
37 were drawn from the RDF while two were from Police.
The graduates have been undergoing a four-month intensive course in communication skills, faith organisations, military leadership, command and management, military training, military intelligence, logistics, land operations, air operations, and peace support operations.
According to RDF Command and Staff College officials, the course’s objective was to produce officers who are able to effectively perform not only command responsibilities at company and battalion levels but also the duties of grade three staff officers at tactical and operational levels.

RDF command and Staff College Commandant Maj. Gen Jean Bosco Kazura, who presided over the pass -out ceremony, congratulated the officers for successfully completing the course.
He also expressed his belief in the fact that, the officers are now better equipped with required skills to effectively execute their future assignments.
"Undeniably, you now have the elementary tools required to work harder and achieve more; and bravely face any immediate and future tasks,” he said.
"As you go out there, set off with commitment and determination to do for your country what others would want to do on your behalf but in their own way. Go out there with more patriotism and loyalty than ever before and put the country before yourself”.
Maj. Dusengeyezu Kanyabuganza, one of the officers, told the media that the course was very useful to them as far as performing command and staff duties were concerned.
"The course was very important to perform both staff officer and command duties. Rwandans should actually expect the best from us as we have acquired a lot in terms of knowledge, I particularly feel I can be multipurpose,” Maj. Kanyabuganza said
400 junior officers have so far graduated from RDF Command and Staff College since the school was established in 2012.
