Police handball team in camp ahead of ECAHF championship

Police Handball team have joined the camp ahead of the East and Central Africa Handball championships. Sam Ngendahimana.

Police handball team coach Dismas Ruratsinze has summoned 18 players who will constitute their provisional squad that starts residential camp today in Kimisagara, Kigali, ahead of this year’s East and Central Africa Handball Federation (ECAHF) senior club championships.

The 2018 edition of the annual tournament is scheduled for November 10-17 in Zanzibar.

Turatsinze handed a call-up to 18 players from whom he will name his 14-man final squad that will travel to Zanzibar two days ahead of the tournament.

"All the players are ready and energetic; we believe they will to do well in the regional competition because they all played in the national league,” said Turatsinze.

The six-time Rwandan champions won the tournament in 2015 when it was staged in Kigali.

Police won the National Heroes Day title, the Genocide Memorial Tournament title, a record-extending sixth league title and the season-ending Carre d’As tourney’s title.
