The national volleyball league side Kirehe VS have appointed Jean de Dieu Bagirishya as their new head coach on a two-year contract.

The development was confirmed to Sunday Sport by Kirehe Secretary General, Awunick Mutumwinka, on Saturday.

The new deal with the Eastern Province-based side will see the former Rayon Sports (now defunct) and Gisagara assistant coach at the club till end of 2019/2020 season.

Bagirishya joins the 2017 Carre d’As tournament winners just weeks after former coach Dominique Sesonga Ntawangundi stepped down from the position to join two-time reigning champions Gisagara Volleyball Club.

"Bagirishya is vastly experienced with extensive knowledge about local volleyball, we are confident that it will translate in how he guides our team in the next two years, which is a renewable contract if he delivers,” Mutumwinka said.

The club official also revealed that they have signed former UNIK coach Jean Luc Mbonyuwontuma as their new assistant coach.

Last season, Kirehe finished in fifth position in the league behind; champions Gisagara, REG, UTB and former giants APR.

The forthcoming 2018/2019 season kicks-off on November 10.
