After enduring four defeats in the last five games in Unimoni National Cricket League, Tamil Lions have set their sights on beating Vikings when the two sides face off at IPRC- Kigali grounds on Sunday – starting at 9am.

For the Lions, this will be their final fixture in the championship. Ahead of their meeting with Vikings, they are at bottom of the table with only four points.

Speaking to Saturday Sport on Friday, Sivakumar Vaidyanathan, Tamil Lions vice-captain, said that they are well prepared and determined to fight with all they got.

Lions have lost four games in a row, against Kutchi Tigers (by 26 runs), Spartans (by 7 wickets), Sorwathe (24 runs), and Zonic Cricket Club by 3 wickets.

"It has been tough for our side; we have lost some players who went to Tanzania while others suffered injuries. We have to beat Vikings so we can finish the season on a high,” he said.

The Vikings are third on the table standings of the men’s division two category, also with 4 points but they have played two games less.

Unbeaten Kutchi Tigers Cricket club top the summit with 14 points – from four victories.

Women’s league also continues

Meanwhile, the women’s league also continues this weekend as Dolphins take on Queens of Victory on Saturday at IPRC-Kicukiro.

Queens are third in the women division two with four points. Favourites Sorwathe top the table with 14 points, six ahead of joint second-placed Oasis and Phoenix – with 8 points each.
