RWANDA’s Aimable Bayingana has unanimously been elected as the new president of L'Union Francophone de Cyclisme, the cycling governing body of the International Organisation of La Francophonie.

Bayingana, the president of Rwanda Cycling Federation (Ferwacy), was elected during the Union Francophone de Cyclisme (UFC) congress at the French Cycling Federation’s headquarters in Paris on Friday.

He is the organisation’s second president, succeeding Moroccan Maître Mohammed Ben El Mahi, who was at its hem since UFC’s establishment in 2014.

In addition to his new role and being Ferwacy presidency, Bayingana is also a member of the Confederation of African Cycling (CAC) Executive Committee.

His election comes just days after former Foreign Affairs Minister of Rwanda, Louise Mushikiwabo, was also unanimously elected as the new Secretary General of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) during its 17th Heads of State and Government Summit in Yerevan, Armenia.
