The 2017/18 Azam Rwanda Premier League champions, APR, will be crowned on the opening day of the 2018-19 season, which will pit them against Amagaju at Kigali Stadium on October 9.

Rwanda Football Federation (Ferwafa) released fixtures of the 2018/19 league season on Thursday.

The event to hand the military side their league trophy was not held at the conclusion of last season due to many football engagements locally and regionally they were involved in.

Also in Day One fixtures, Mukura will be hosting Sunrise at Huye Stadium, Etincelles will take on eight-time champions Rayon Sports at Umuganda Stadium, Gicumbi will host Espoir in Gicumbi District, while Kirehe will be up against SC Kiyovu at Kirehe grounds. All matches are due on October 20.

The following day, new league entrants AS Muhanga will face Police at Muhanga Stadium, AS Kigali will entertain Musanze at Kigali Stadium, while Marines and Bugesera will be squaring off at Umuganda Stadium in Rubavu District.

The first main derby of the season – which pits rivals APR FC and Rayon Sports – will be staged on December 12 at Kigali Stadium while the reverse fixture will be played on April 24.

APR will represent Rwanda at next year’s Total CAF Champions League while Mukura, Peace Cup winners, will take part in the Total CAF Confederations Cup.

The upcoming new league season will run through June 8, 2019.
