The play-off match between Gicumbi and Sorwathe, which was scheduled to be played Thursday afternoon, has been postponed to a yet to be determined date.

Gicumbi were supposed face Sorwathe in one of the play-off matches to determine the side that will replace Intare FC in next season’s Azam Rwanda Premier League. The other contender for the spot to topflight league ticket are Pepiniere FC.

The change in schedule follows a road accident involving Gicumbi team bus yesterday en route to Kigali for the match. Times Sport understands that only one player, midfielder Irene Dushimimana, was seriously injured and was immediately rushed to Byumba Hospital for treatment.

"FERWAFA extends its thoughts and prayers to Gicumbi FC and team members following today’s accident while on their way to honour today’s play-off match against Sorwathe FC. We are wishing speedy recovery to injured members of the team,” Rwanda Football Association (Ferwafa) tweeted on Thursday.

Three other players sustained minor wounds and were discharged later in the afternoon.
