Ngoma is set to get a new three star hotel worth Rwf3.5 billion, which will boost the hospitality industry in the district and create employment opportunities.

The district mayor, Aphrodise Nambaje, said that the hotel—which is likely to be operated under the brand name of East Gate Hotel would attract more visitors in the area. 

"This district is visited by many people who could not get where to stay overnight, they opted to stay in other districts like Kayonza or Rwamagana,” he said.

Officials also said that the hotel, constructed on 2.5 hectares of land, will also trigger private sector investments in commercial buildings and other sectors.

It is likely to open shop in three-month time, the mayor said. 

Constructed through the Local Administrative Entities Development Agency (LODA), officials said the hotel will increase the district’s ability to raise revenues, which will be spend on other development projects in the area. 

District authorities have also started the process of looking for a private operator who will manage the hotel.

Emmanuel Byabagabo, a resident of Ngoma town, said he is hopes to get job in the hotel.

"I am personally excited about this; I am hoping to get a job here. Even if I don’t get the job, I think more people will come here for services in such a nice hotel, and this will certainly spread good image of our district,” he said.

It has 56 single rooms, 12 doubles and two VIP rooms. With nightclub and two conference rooms, it will boost the district’s night club and add impetus to its conference tourism. 

The hotel is one of pledges by President Paul Kagame to Ngoma residents in 2010 along the Rwf8 billion stadium, which is under construction. The President also promised to construct a tarmac road that links Ngoma-Bugesera.
