Rayon Sports head coach Roberto Oliveira has praised his players and stressed that neither himself nor the players will lose sleep over their 5-1 quarterfinal humiliation against Nigeria’s Enyimba FC on Sunday as they exited the Caf Confederation Cup.

The Brazilian coach further noted that what his team has achieved in the continental competition was far beyond everyone’s expectations, and the players deserve credit for that.

"Reaching the group stage was historic, let alone braving the odds to reach the last eight. The future of the players and the team is bright if they are able to keep the core of the present squad,” said Roberto.

Stanley Dimgba, Udo Ikouwem, Sunday Adetunji, Joseph Osadiaye and Isiaka Oladuntoye were on target for Enyimba, while Caleb Bimenyimana netted the consolation for Rayon.

"We have got to the end of the road for us but I am proud of the players’ performance in getting Rayon Sports to the quarter-finals, it is a big achievement for me as well,” he added.

By reaching the round of the last eight, Rayon Sports are expected to receive a financial windfall of USD 340,000. The club also earned USD 260,000 for making it to the group stage in March.

Nigerian heavyweights Enyimba will meet Raja Club Athletic of Morocco in the semi-finals.
