Record 17-time Azam Rwanda Premier League champions, APR FC, have secured the signature of former AS Kigali midfielder Evode Ntwali on a two-year deal.

The development was confirmed to Times Sport yesterday by Adolphe Kalisa, APR Secretary General.

Ntwali, 24, put pen to paper on Tuesday night before having his first training session with his new teammates on Wednesday afternoon at the club’s training base in Shyorongi, Rulindo.

Speaking to this publication in a separate interview, new signing Ntwali said his move to APR was an ‘easy decision’ to make and looked forward to winning titles with the military side.

"When APR came calling, I didn’t hesitate, it was an easy decision to make. I look forward to seeing my football level reach new heights and helping the club to win more titles. Most importantly, I am thrilled to play in the Caf Champions League next year,” said Ntwali.

The former AS Kigali midfielder becomes APR’s fifth signing since lifting the 2017-18 league title in June. He joins Mirafa Nizeyimana, who was signed from rivals Police FC, Michel Rusheshangoga who rejoined the military side from Tanzania’s Singida United, as well Yves Mugunga and Fiacre Ntwari, who were promoted from the club’s academy – Intare FC.

Nine renew contracts

Meanwhile, APR have also confirmed that nine players – who were out of contract – have since extended their contracts by two years each. They signed earlier this week.

They include; Yves Kimenyi, Steven Ntaribi, Emmanuel Imanishimwe, Blaise Itangishaka, Amran Nshimiyimana, Lague Byiringiro, Shaffi Songayingabo, Andrew Buteera and Prince Buregeya.

The nine were crucial in the club’s chase for a record-extending 17th league title last season.
