Thursday, September 06, 2018

After surprising White Clouds women cricket club last weekend, Indatwa are keen to shock more teams in the UNIMONI- RCA Women Cricket Premier League.

Head coach Eric Dusabemungu, who also serves as the senior men’s national team skipper, has said that defeating giants White Clouds is proof that his side has improved their game.

"The Clouds are a good team composed of players who – most of all – are regulars on the national team; beating them shows how my team has matured and improved,” he said.

The coach noted that his team’s strengthen lies in powerful bowling.

Indatwa Girls beat Clouds by 11 wickets. They scored 67/10 in 33 overs while the Clouds finished with 57/10 in 21 overs.

Sifa Ingabire posted 15 runs off 82 balls while Gisele Ishimwe delivered 11/14 to guide their side to victory. Josiane Uwimababazi took 3 for 9 in 4 overs while Henriette Ishimwe took 3 wickets for 20 in 7 overs.

However, they had lost the opening game by 5 wickets to Charity Cricket Club. Next up, they will be up against She-Guards on September 15 at Gahanga stadium.

"We have to maintain the same winning spirit in order to reach the final and lift the title, which is possible as long as the team stay focused,” Dusabemungu noted.

Indatwa are placed in Division 1 Pool alongside Charity CC, She-Guards and White Clouds.

The women’s Division 2 Pool is comprised of Ndera CC, Sorwathe, Dolphins CC, Phoenix CC, Oasis CC and the Queens of Victory CC.
