Former Rwanda head coach Carlos Alos Ferrer has wished Rwanda well as the country commemorates the 30th anniversary of the genocide against the Tutsi.

The Spanish gaffer, who now handles the Belarusian national team says he learnt a lot from previous commemorations during his stay in the country which he said he and his family adore a lot.

"My best wishes to all the people of Rwanda. During my time there, I discovered the kindness of people and a great example of how to overcome such a difficult time. Both I and my family fell in love with this country," Ferrer told Times Sport.

Ferrer was at the helm of Amavubi between Match 2022 and August 2023. However, poor results under the tactician cut his stay before he was offered to coach the Belarussian national team.

Starting April 7, Rwanda marks the 30th anniversary of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi where an estimated 1 million people were massacred within the space of 100 days.

Sports is one of the sectors lost a number of people including players, fans, journalists and executives in diverse disciplines.

The commemoration will run until July 4.
