Rwanda week in China to promote tourism, investment

Rwanda Development Board in partnership with the Embassy of Rwanda to China will hold "Rwanda week in China,” the Rwanda embassy in china has said.

According to information from the embassy, the week will run from September 1-8 and comprise of events which are expected to bring together business people and tourism companies from Rwanda and China. 

Events will include road shows which will be organized in three major cities, Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen and there will be visits to industrial parks and manufacturing facilities around China.

According to Samuel Abikunda, Rwanda’s Commercial Attaché to China, the move is meant to promote investment and tourism.

During the event, Rwanda Development Board will be promoting Rwanda as one of the best tourist’s destinations and best place to do business in Africa.

According to the World Bank’s "Doing Business Report 2018”, the country has been ranked as the second easiest place to do business in Africa and it has been ranked among the 18 best places to visit in 2018.

"Rwanda Week” in China is being organised a few weeks after the successful visit of President Xi Jinping to Rwanda during which he noted that: "Under the leadership of President Kagame, Rwanda has embarked on a path of development suited to its realities, achieved long-term social stability and fast economic growth, and is enjoying increasing influence in the region and beyond”.

China and Rwanda have established strong political ties that should be leveraged on to attract both investments and tourists.

The Rwanda week in China will take place around the time of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) which is scheduled to take place on 3rd and 4th September.
