AS Kigali at risk of losing eleven players

Azam Rwanda Premier league side AS Kigali could lose as many as 11 players following the expiry of their contracts with the club in July, Times Sport has learnt.

The players include captain Soter Kayumba, goalkeeper Batte Shamiru, centre-back Latif Bishira, midfielder Evode Ntwali, left-back Janvier Mutijima, and strikers Michel Ndahinduka and Eric Radu Iradukunda.

Others are; Tumaine Titi Ntamuhanga, goalie Alphonse Ndanda Nizeyimana and Janvier Cyubahiro. Former striker Hamidu Ndayisaba has already joined Police after inking a two-year deal.

It is reported that AS Kigali are yet to initiate talks with the players over contract extension.

Despite heavily investing in signing new players last season, Eric Nshimiyimana’s side finished second in the league with 61 points, five points adrift of new champions APR.

The City of Kigali-sponsored club were also eliminated from Peace Cup in the round of last sixteen, by eventual winners Mukura who beat Rayon Sports in the final.
