Sierra Leone     Vs     Swaziland

Despite losing to Sierra Leone by 9 wickets on Thursday, the national U19 national boys’ cricket team will be back in action in South Africa this afternoon aiming to qualify for the semi-final stage.

Sierra Leone beat Rwanda by 9 wickets to register its third win in the tournament.

Winning the toss, Rwanda chose to bat first, posting 37 runs in 4.4 Overs, but Joshua Mwanja’s boys were unable to capitalise on the advantage as they lost wickets at regular intervals. In the end, they only managed 91 in 38.3 overs.

Martin Akayezu was the only player who pulled off 36 runs.

Sierra Leone began its chase in style and lost just three wickets in pursuit of the 92-run target. George Ngegba made 29 off 26 balls and was ably supported by Osman Sankoh, who made 26 off 16, hitting four fours and a six.

But Rwandan players will not be leaving SA just yet, they still have to play their last Group A game today, which is a must-win against a resilient Tanzanian side to determine who progresses to the knockout stages of the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, Africa Division 2 Qualifiers.

After winning all their three games so far, Sierra Leone now have six points at the top of Group A summit, and have already progressed to the last four, together with Nigeria from Group B.

When Rwanda takes on Tanzania, a side with four points, Group A giants Sierra Leone will be battling bottom side Swaziland.

The semi-final group games will be played Sunday while the final and third place playoff will be played on Tuesday next week.
