EMMANUEL Ruremesha, the newly appointed head coach of Musanze FC, has been tasked to guide the Azam Rwanda Premier League side to a top- four finish in the forthcoming 2018/2019 season.

The former Gicumbi FC coach penned a two-year contract with the Musanze District-sponsored side on Tuesday, crossing over from archrivals Etincelles.

Ruremesha led Etincelles to fourth in the 2017-18 league with 51 points, ahead of more established sides such as Kiyovu SC and Police. The Rubavu-based registered 14 victories, 9 draws and 7 defeats.

Speaking to Times Sport yesterday, Ruremesha said he was thrilled to be associated with Musanze and looked forward to graduating the club from the ‘average team’ status to a side that can challenge for titles.

"I was asked to overhaul the team and guide them to top seven in the first season, then we battle for top four in our second season together. I pledged to give it my best if the club management did their part in ensuring that there is conducive environment to get the desired results,” Ruremesha said.

He further revealed that, "If we get a few pre-season matches, sign a few more players and players get paid on time, there is no doubt we will have a memorable season.”

In a separate interview, the secretary-general of Musanze, Moussa Masumbuko confirmed the signing of Ruremesha before adding that, "He is knowledgeable and has vast experience in local football. We look forward to working with him in building a more competitive team.”

In 2016/2017 season, under head coach Sosthene Habimana, Musanze FC finished in sixth place with 45 points before sliding to ninth in the recently concluded 2017-18 season.

Previously, Ruremesha coached the now-defunct sides Kibuye and Atraco, Rayon Sports, La Jeunesse, Espoir, Gicumbi, and Etincelles.
