Nigerian striker McCarthy Okpara Ugochukwu has arrived in the country ahead of his trials with Azam Rwanda Premier League giants, Rayon Sports.

Ugochukwu landed at Kigali International Airport on Tuesday afternoon and was welcomed by the club’s Secretary General Bernard ‘King’ Itangishaka.

"Starting Thursday, he is going to be training with our first team for a duration of one week before we can decide whether he deserves a contract. The sooner he proves himself to the technical team, the sooner the deal will be sealed,” Itangishaka told Times Sport on Tuesday.

In a separate interview, Ogochukwu said, "I am happy to be in Rwanda, and excited for the opportunity to be part of Rayon Sports. They are a lovely team that I have heard a lot about, I hope I pass the trials and sign a contract soon. I am looking forward my first training on Thursday.”

Besides a number of teams in his home country, the striker previously played for African Sport in Ivory Coast, Raja Casablanca in Morocco and AS Togo-Port in Togo.
