RWANDA’s U18 Ladies Basketball Team take on neighbours DR Congo in the quarter-finals of the FIBA U18 Women’s African Championships in Maputo, Mozambique.

Charles Mushumba’s side will be looking to extend their impressive debut campaign as they eye to seal a historic semifinal spot in the biennial continental showpiece.

The encounter pitting the two sides was effectively decided after Rwanda finished second in Group A behind hosts Mozambique, the only side they lost to during the preliminary round.

Rwanda beat Egypt and Cape Verde in the group stage.

On the other hand, the Democratic Republic of Congo finished in third position in Group B, having only managed one victory – against Uganda – after enduring two defeats at the hands of defending champions Mali and hopefuls Angola.

Elsewhere in quarter-finals today, Cape Verde face holders Mali in the first game, former champions Egypt take on Angola, while Uganda will be up against the hosts in the final last eight clash.

The winner between Rwanda and DR Congo tie will face the winner between Cape Verde and Mali in the last four while the winner between Uganda and Mozambique will take on the winner between Angola and Egypt in the other semi-final tie.
