Zephanie Niyonkuru dropped as deputy boss of RDB

Zephanie Niyonkuru, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Rwanda Development Board was removed from his duties due to repeated managerial failures. FILE

President Paul Kagame has, on October 6, dropped Zephanie Niyonkuru from his position as the deputy Chief Executive of Rwanda Development Board (RDB).

According to a communique from the Office of the Prime Minister, Niyonkuru was discharged from his duties over repeated managerial failures.

RDB is an entity tasked to lead Rwanda’s business and innovation development by fostering an attractive investment environment, enabling regional and global exports, as well as creating jobs.

He was appointed Deputy CEO of RDB in 2019, replacing Emmanuel Hategeka, who currently serves as Rwanda’s envoy to the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Niyonkuru has also been serving as the Board Chairman of Rwanda Airports Company Limited since March 2020.
