After making public the achievements registered last year, the leadership of Kicukiro District has vowed to accomplish much more this year.

The presentation of last year’s achievements was held at Kicukiro Technical School on Friday and was presided over by the District Mayor, Paul Jules Ndamage.

"We are expecting more in all sectors, and with the help of fully committed stakeholders, this year will be a success,” said Ndamage.
He revealed that the targets for this year include improving revenue collection for the district, welfare of the people, health, good governance and leadership.

"After training 167 cooperatives in management, we will complete the mushroom growing plant located in the district thus boosting welfare for our residents,” Ndamage said.

"Apart from preparing seedbeds for over 200,000 coffee seedlings and clearing the 20 hectares of wetland in Masaka Sector, we will finish the 570 kilometres of some of the roads which are not yet complete,” he revealed.

Other targets include development of terraces in the sectors of Gahanga and Busanza.

After supplying cows to poor households under the One Cow per Household programme, the district will embark on improving on the health of the livestock by periodically providing them with treatment.

Meanwhile, in a bid to improve housing conditions in the district, over 100 houses which were built illegally in Gatenga sector have been demolished since the year started.
