Africa Handball Challenge: Rwanda lose Group B opener to Senegal

Rwanda U-20 handball team’s quest for the Africa Challenge Trophy got off to a shocker as they feel to a 33-31 defeat to Senegal in Group B on Wednesday night at Amahoro Stadium.

Anaclet Bagirshya’s side take on Madagascar in their second and last group game on Friday.

In the group opener against Senegal, the hosts started the better side, which resulted into a narrow 16-15 narrow lead at half-time. However, the visitors bounced back in the second-half to win the game 33-31, and virtually set one foot into the round of last four.

Elsewhere on Wednesday, defending champions DR Congo started off the campaign for title defence with an effortless 36-22 victory over Zambia in Group A.

Action continues today with match-day 2 as DR Congo face Cameroon in Group A at 2pm while Senegal will be up against Madagascar in Group B at 4pm. Both games at Amahoro Stadium.
