Handball: Rwanda drawn in Group B at African Champs

Rwanda’s U-20 handball team has been drawn in Group B, alongside Senegal and Madagascar, for the forthcoming Africa Challenge Trophy due for August 8-12 in Kigali.

Rwanda qualified for the biennial continental tournament in May after beating Uganda 32-27 to win Zone 5 qualifiers tournament staged in Uganda.

The hosts will play their first match against Senegal on August 8 before facing Madagascar in the second and last group game on August 10.

Anaclet Bagirishya’s 20-man provisional squad entered residential camp on July 24 at The Mirror Hotel in Remera have since been training twice a day at Amahoro stadium with hope to the make the most of home advantage.

Besides the U20 junior tournament (players born in 1998 and after), the country will be simultaneously hosting its youth showpiece (players born in 2000 and after).

The winners in both competitions will qualify for the 2019 Men’s Youth and Junior World Handball Championships.
