Rwanda Energy Group (REG) bounced back from Game 1 defeat to beat arch-rivals Patriots 73-65 in Game 2 on Friday to tie the series to 1-1 ahead of Game 3 slated for August 2.

Patriots had defeated REG 63-58 in Game 1, on July 20.

Patrick Ngwijuruvugo’s REG took the first quarter 19-11 before both sides played an 18-all second quarter to go into half-break with a 37-29 lead in favor of the energy group side.

Returning for the second half, REG – who unlike Game 1 – looked more organized and faster, claimed the third quarter 16-11 to stretch the lead to 53-40 going into the last quarter, which Henry Mwinuke’s Patriots snatched by 25-20.

Meanwhile in the women’s category, APR set-up a date with IPRC- South in the best-of-five finals on Friday after edging out Ubumwe in semi-finals.

Hopefuls IPRC– South reached the finals after brushing aside The Hoops Rwanda in semi-finals.
