RPA to offer e-learning course on peacekeeping for free

Rwandans and people from across the world looking to undertake courses on peacekeeping can now learn virtually at no cost following a move by the Rwanda Peace Academy (RPA) and Peace Operations Training Institute (POTI) to offer e-Learning on the subject at no cost.

The partnership will offer 29 courses in English, 24 courses in French, 17 courses in Spanish, and others in Arabic and Portuguese.

Among the courses to be offered under the initiative include, Introduction to the UN System; Orientation for Serving on a UN Field Mission; Principles and Guidelines for UN Peacekeeping Operations and Ethics in Peacekeeping.

Learners will also gain insights into, Human Rights and Peacekeeping; Peacekeeping and International Conflict Resolution; International Humanitarian Law; Protection of Civilians (PoC) and Civil-Military Coordination (CIMIC) in Peace Operations.

The courses also include, Gender Perspectives in United Nations Peacekeeping Operations; and Logistics Course, among others.

Interested candidates (Military, Police and Civilians) can download all course materials from the Rwanda Peace Academy website (rpa.ac.rw).

Applicants who are ready to commence e-learning can enroll through the RPA website.

Students will be assessed online through self-scoring end-of-lesson quiz as well as end-of-course examination.

Certificates of completion will be offered to graduates who score a minimum of 75 per cent.

The certificates offered are recognised by the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations (UN DPKO).
