The biggest tent at Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village was fully packed by music fans who had come to enjoy good music at Platini’s first solo concert on Saturday, March 30.

The concert delayed for two hours due to the delay of mostly revellers in the VIP section however, radio presenter Sandrine Isheja Butera, the show’s MC, who was full of energy around 8pm came on stage to start the show.

Many fans were excited to see music performances from Platini, including his collabos with Urban boys and Riderman.

Fast rising rapper Zeo Trap and Mr Kagame were the opening acts and each artist’s performance brought the crowd into a dancing mood ready for a great show ahead.

Singer Nel Ngabo, also among the headliners, gave an epic performance singing some of his hit songs like ‘Nywe’ that revellers sang along with the artist. Dressed in all black, Nel Ngabo’s live performance is undeniably a masterpiece hitting every note rightfully.

Kenny Sol was full of energy on stage and the crowd was there for it. The singer who has made many hit songs in his music career had the audience singing to the lyrics of all his songs.

Singer Knowless blessed the stage dressed in black dress singing her latest single ‘Uzitabe’. The singer gracefully sang other hits she made in the past as the fully packed room sang along with her. Platini joined Knowless on stage as they sang their feature song.

Platini showed up on stage for his first performance on stage welcomed by MC Sandrine who revealed that the Dream Boys band was the first to give her the MC job while they were students at Butare.

The singer together with Symphony Band and his 20 dancers gave the crowd a time of their lives. Starting off his performance, Platini sang his latest single ‘ Jirewu’ , and latwe ‘Ya Motema’, ‘Fata Amano’ and 'Aba Ex ‘ among others. The singer also proved that he can sing and dance at the same time.

When Platini took a break, rapper Riderman came on stage singing to his big time hit song ‘Horo’ and the whole crowd got out of the seats. He also performed some of his hit songs.

Urban Boyz soon appeared on stage reminding the crowd some of the best songs they had made in their prime years. The crowd really enjoyed listening to these songs again and danced to them.

Some of the songs performed by Nizzo and Humble Jizzo were ‘Sipiriyani’, ‘Barahurura’, ‘Take it off’, ‘Indahiro’ and ‘Ifi’ by Humble Jizzo.

Their performance was then followed by Platini’s last performance for the night. He first paid a tribute to his friend Jay Polly by rapping one of his songs. He then invited his two kids and their mothers on stage.

" I want to assure you that me and everyone in the music industry we love Jay Polly and we miss him. For that, I want to give his kids one million Rwandan francs to help them with school,” said Platini.

He then asked if there is anyone else who wanted to do the same in honor of the late Jay Polly, many people including socialite Alliah Cool, manager Clement Ishimwe, actor Bamenya and many others contributed more than 10 million.

The singer then went on with his performance specifically songs from when he was in the band. He reminded everyone why Dream Boys were indeed among the best bands in the history of Rwandan music. He sang ‘Mumutashye,’ and ‘ Dufitanye Isano’ among others.

Before leaving the stage at almost midnight, Platini also known as Baba asked his father Michel Nemeye to come on stage. The singer thanked his father saying that when he told him he wanted to start his music career he gave him his full support.

" When I told him about my new song he gave Rwf5, 000 and that was the only money he had in his pocket. I want you to help me thank him for supporting me,” he said.

Before leaving the stage he thanked all the artists who performed at his first solo concert and everyone who was involved in its success.

The show ended at 11:58pm.
